• DISTILLERIA VARNELLI •

Distilleria Varnelli has been producing spirits since 1868 in the Marche region, in a particularly pleasant area on the slopes of the Sibillini Mountains. The business started from a brilliant idea of the founder Girolamo Varnelli who applied his herbalist knowledge to create the first product, Amaro Sibilla, a rich bitter which was awarded the Gold Medal in 1909 at the International Exhibition in Turin.

In the course of more than 140 years, Distilleria Varnelli has constantly grown, introducing new products, acquiring new markets and establishing itself as a leader in the segment of distinguished and refined liqueurs.
Today, the Varnelli heirs run the business through a balanced mix of tradition and innovation, focusing on the utmost quality while highlighting the cultural contents inherited from the past.
The Distilleria Varnelli specialties derive their distinctive taste and aroma from natural raw materials, carefully selected to guarantee the highest standard.
Some phases of the production processes are followed directly by the family members as they include secrets passed down from generation to generation.
The effective promotion of the brand has been continuously supporting the success of Distilleria Varnelli so that the top product has become identified with the brand name itself: Varnelli.

Varnelli

VARNELLI
First awarded in 1950 as “the best Italian dry anise”, Varnelli is a unique flavor among the Mediterranean aniseed drinks. It hooks you at the first taste.

Clear, brilliant, transparent, with bluish highlights, its intense and persistent aroma of aniseed develops into a fragrance of wild fennel, dill and cumin, enriched with floral scents. All-enveloping, full-bodied, medium dry on the palate, it has 46% vol. alcoholic content.

Varnelli is a very versatile liqueur. Drink it neat or on the rocks, with dark chocolate or while smoking your favorite cigar. It is an excellent refreshing drink if added to water, an innovative ingredient for cocktails but even for surprising culinary dishes. Enjoy Varnelli on ice cream or on fruit, in sorbet and as Italian people usually use it: “the best lacing for coffee”.

AMARO SIBILLA
Since 1868 Amaro Sibilla has been obtained from a decoction of herbs, roots and barks prepared over a wood fire and sweetened with honey.
A long ageing and decanting period is then needed in order to get a transparent smooth tasting product.

Dense and dark brown, on the palate the first impression of sweetness due to honey is then followed by an intense bitter tannic taste with a long-length finish. This roughness is enriched by fine aromas of chestnuts, dried fruit, vanilla and coffee.

Amaro Sibilla is perfect after a meal, neat, on the rocks, as a hot drink with lemon or orange slices. It has 34% vol. alcoholic content.
It is a versatile and innovative ingredient in cocktails and long drinks, an original aperitif with white vermouth and some drops of gin. It is a delicious refreshing drink if added to soda, tonic water or orange juice.

MOKA VARNELLI
Moka Varnelli is a fine liqueur obtained with real Italian espresso according to a traditional recipe of the Varnelli family. It needs at least 6 months of seasoning and settling in order to acquire its particular taste and appearance.

Dark brown as the typical color of coffee, its distinctive aroma of espresso blends with notes of cocoa, vanilla, spices, tobacco honey and caramel. On the palate it is pleasantly sweet and well balanced, the aromas are persistent. It has 30% vol. alcoholic content.

Moka Varnelli can be drunk neat or on the rocks at any time of the day or while enjoying your favorite dessert and pastry. Especially suitable for blending and to lace shaken coffee, it is also excellent if mixed with Varnelli. Enrich your ice cream pouring Moka Varnelli on it.
